When choosing your linens remember that the most common mistake in purchasing is the misconception that a higher thread count is a better linen.  It is simply a personal preference.  
A low thread count of 220TC gives you a crisp cool sheet that will become plusher over time.
A high count of 500TC tends to be lighter and smoother due to the tightly packed threads.  
A percale weave produces a soft, cool, crisp sheet whereas a sateen weave gives you a smooth sheet with a slight luster.
